Matthew Sterne — Vice Chancellor
Matthew Sterne is the Vice Chancellor for Business Services at the University of Pittsburgh. In this role, he oversees all auxiliary operations for the University, which includes housing, dining, Panther Central, conference services, the University Club, the campus stores operations, parking and transportation services, mailing, printing and copy services, and surplus property. Matthew manages a staff of over 300 employees in multiple facilities on campus including 20 residence halls, 18 dining locations, and four stores.
Matthew’s prior experience includes more than 20 years in the hospitality industry, including senior leadership roles managing Fairmont properties in Boston; Scottsdale; Sonoma; and Mont-Tremblant, Canada; as well as Sheraton Hotels in Montreal and San Diego.
Matthew holds a bachelor’s degree from Concordia University and an MBA from Queen’s University, has served on the Pennsylvania Restaurant and Lodging Association Board of Directors, is a Leadership Pittsburgh Inc. program graduate and served as vice chair of the Pittsburgh Downtown Partnership.
Mandi Keller — Administrative Assistant to Julie Bannister
Mandi serves as the Administrative Assistant to the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Services. Her responsibilities include providing direct administrative support to departmental leadership, data entry and management, monthly reporting, and other special projects as assigned.
Jamie Constantino – Administrative and Project Coordinator
Jamie serves as the Administrative and Project Coordinator for Business and Auxiliary Services. Her duties include coordinating, assisting with, and taking the lead on special projects throughout the Department, including serving as the department United Way Coordinator. She represents the Department as a liaison with other University offices, vendors, and business partners on behalf of the Vice Chancellor for Business Services.
Julie Bannister — Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Services
As the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Services, Julie Bannister oversees and provides strategic guidance to the Housing Assignments and Leasing, Panther Central, Dining Services, and Conference Services units of Business and Auxiliary Services. She also supervises the support units of Marketing and Communications and Business Systems. Julie’s duties include oversight of all on-campus housing assignments and University-owned off-campus leasing, direction of Panther Central’s 24-7 customer care center, management of over twenty on-campus dining locations, detailed execution of conferences and events, review of marketing materials, development and implementation of departmental business systems, and supervision of staff. Monica Rattigan — Executive Director of University Stores and Strategic Initiatives
Monica Rattigan is the Executive Director of University Stores and Strategic Initiatives at the University of Pittsburgh. In this role, she oversees the operations for the University-owned and operated retail stores, including The University Store on Fifth, The Pitt Shop, Maggie & Stella’s Cards & Gifts, and The Pitt Shop at the Pete. Her duties include directing all inventory management, budget oversight, marketing, merchandising, point of sale systems, and review of policies and procedures.
Kevin Sheehy — Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Operations and Finance
Kevin Sheehy is the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Operations and Finance. He is responsible for overseeing Auxiliary Finances for the following divisions: Parking, Transportation and Services; Housing; Food Services; the University Club; Panther Central; Conference Services; the Retail Stores; U-PARC and the Petersen Events Center. He is also responsible for the day to day operations of the Parking, Transportation and Services Division. This division consists of the following units: Parking; Transportation (including campus shuttles); Commuting Alternatives; Household Goods - Relocation; Mailing Services; Student Mail; Surplus Property; Central Receiving; Moving Services; Printing Services and Copy Cat Center; Management of the Petersen Event Center.
Matthew Walaan — Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Business Administration and Maintenance
As the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Auxiliary Business Administration and Maintenance, Matt oversees the maintenance of all on-campus housing locations, University-owned off-campus apartments, and dining facilities. Financial operations, data analysis, human resources, and sustainability initiatives are also units that support all of Business and Auxiliary Services which report up to Matt. Matt’s team consists of over 150 staff members whose ultimate goal is to provide the Pitt community with world-class customer service. Matt serves as a member of Business and Auxiliary Service’s Leadership Team, providing strategic analysis and insight to the Department.
